Presentation

"Azzolino" is the name of art for the professor Valerio Valeri, born at Grottazzolina in the province of Ascoli Piceno, where he lives and works. He is a painter and sculptor and teaches design and Art History. As a pupil of the Tuscan masters he developed his talents through the high and strict school of Lucchese and Florence. Qualified art critics have been interested in his art as well as the major national newspapers and several art magazines such as: Arte Italiana Contemporanea, Panorama D’Arte, Il Quadrato, Il Cigno, La Ginestra etc. On invitation he has participated in several art exhibitions and international competitions, winning considerable prizes and acknowledgements.

It is said of him:

"…paintings which seem to come from afar as their images, like their themes and the emotions they provoke." (Il Resto del Carlino)

"…the external vision of the real world has no greater stimulus for the creative imagination of the metaphysical painter and surrealist Azzolino, having escaped from common place he breaks through with his vitality into visions stationed in upper spheres." (Il Messaggero)

"…he detests every distortion and transfiguration of subjects borrowed from nature which become sad and gloomy manifestations of a world in ruins. Azzolino reacts, overcomes the catastrophe of all times and creates a better world". (Il Messaggero)

"…his visions, terse, clean and geometrical almost from a future world, are the "transfert" of an artistic personality, which wants to materialize in shapes and colours so as to express itself in a complete manner thus achieving his own cultural breakthrough". (Cesare Caselli)

Summarizing his vast production is the artistic aphorism: "The art of Azzolino is Italian Art in the world".
